POISON fans everywhere disappointed....

Poison fans are holding their breath, and hoping that drummer Rikki Rocketts' recent arrest on rape charges will not interrupt the 2008 tour dates scheduled this summer-especially those who have already made plans to catch a show.
It's old news now,but 46 yr. old Rockett was arrested Monday shortly after getting off a plane from New Zealand and landed at LAX, on a rape warrant out of Mississippi.A woman filed a complaint alleging that she was raped in September 2007 in a hotel room at Silver Star Casino,a Choctaw Indian resort near Philadelphia,MS,by Rikki Rockett, whose real name is Richard Ream.
Poison was at its most popular in the 80's as one of the original "hair-bands" and unbeknownst to many people, they are STILL touring regularly over 20 years after the debut album was released to success. So far,no plans to cancel any dates have been announced. They have several concerts scheduled for this year, including dates at nearby venues in Northern Virginia/DC area.

"More than a theme song..."

Tom Scholz, founder and former member of the classic rock group Boston and a Barack Obama supporter, has asked Republican hopeful Mike Huckabee to cease and refrain from using the Boston hit"More than a feeling" at his campaigning rallies.Barry Goudreau, also a former Boston band member is a Huckabee supporter and he and his band,Capital Offense, have performed "More than a feeling" at Huckabee events-which wouldn't be an issue but for the fact that Scholz fought-and won-a court battle with CBS and the other three members of Boston(including Gourdreau)for the rights to the "Boston" name and all of their songs.Scholz says that using the song implies that he and the band Boston support Huckabee.
In a similar situation,McCain's campaign agreed to stop playing John Mellencamp's songs "Our Country" and "Pink Houses" after the uber-liberal singer asked him to stop.
I can definitely understand how they feel....although Fleetwood Mac appeared with former Pres. Clinton on TV,the Clinton campaigns overuse of "Dont Stop(thinking about tomorrow)" ruined the song for me permanently and I was a Clinton supporter back in 92 lol.

Flashback TV:The British Invasion(1964)

On this date in 1964,television and music history was made when The Beatles made their US debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. They had arrived on February 7th at JFK Airport accompanied by producer Phil Spector and others and their appearance set off the British Invasion and invited the pans of critics, who proclaimed the group to be a "fad"!Two days after Ed Sullivan, they appeared in concert for the 1st time in America at the old Washington Coliseum in DC.I will have to dust off my copy of the Beatles Number Ones CD and spin it tomorrow!Yes,I listen to the Beatles-I even have a copy of "Wingspan",from Paul McCartneys Wings.LOL.Nevertheless the Beatles are still one of the greatest groups of all times.

Can you believe Alice Cooper is 60?

Legendary shock-rocker Alice Cooper, who was born Vincent Furnier will turn 60 on Monday! He did the whole shock-rock opera burlesque stage show performances decades before Rob Zombie picked up the torch. These days Alice Cooper is a confirmed born-again Christian and hosts a radio show "Nights with Alice Cooper".Rather than decapitate mannequins onstage,he spends his leisure time competing in Pro Am golf tournaments.Cooper,an avid golfer, hits the holes 6 days a week!He is also a restaurantier and has appeared in cameo roles in many films.Happy Birthday Alice!May nothing get "under your wheels" as you celebrate!

Happy Birthday Eddie Van Halen!

Today is Eddie Van Halens birthday and can you believe he is 53?WTF?I feel soooo old.The man is a guitar legend, ranks right up there with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. He survived years of touring,2 bouts of cancer,a divorce and alcoholism and still going strong! In his early performances he often played with his back to the crowd,so aspiring guitarists could not see what he was doing and copy his "licks".A Van Halen reunion tour is supposedly in the works with David Lee Roth for this year.Happy Birthday Eddie!

Hail to the King

Today marks what would have been the 73rd birthday of The King of Rock n' Roll although alot of conspiracy wingnuts believe he is still alive somewhere,I am not one of them.He lived fast and burned bright and like all bright stars,he was extinguished too soon.Thousands still flock to Graceland annually to mourn him and pay their respects to him and despite being dead,he is still one of the richest celebrities in the world. His music has lived on and inspired many artists and in a sense,he remains alive in our hearts and minds.Again, there are people who doubt he died in 1977 and many have claimed to have spotted him in various parts of the world, but sadly,he is no longer with us.Tomorrow, starting at 6 am,Turner Movie Classics will air all of his most popular movies, including concert films,in his memory.

Happy Chanukah!

With the holiday of Chanukah starting today,I just wanted to express my wishes for a Happy Chanukah to my Jewish family & friends. Also,as a little "extra"....I have posted the lyrics to a modern classic song by Adam Sandler that I love and I think you will enjoy!
........................................................................................................................................................................
Okay...This is a song that uhh..There's a lot of Christmas songs out there and uhh..not too many Chanukah songs. So uhh..I wrote a song for all those nice little Jewish kids who don't get to hearany Chanukah songs. Here we go...
"Put on your yarmulke/Here comes Chanukah/So much funukah/To celebrate Chanukah/Chanukah is the festival of lights/Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights/When you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree/Here's a list of people who are Jewish just like you and me/David Lee Roth lights the menorah/So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah/Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli/Bowser from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzerelli/Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too/Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew/You don't need "Deck The Halls" or "Jingle Bell Rock"'/Cause you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock- both Jewish/Put on your yarmulke/It's time for Chanukah/The owner of the Seattle Supersonicahs/Celebrates Chanukah/O.J. Simpson, not a Jew/But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew- he converted/We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby/Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish- not too shabby/Some people think that Ebenezer Scrooge is/Well he's not, but guess who is/All three Stooges/So many Jews are in showbiz/Tom Cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is/Tell your friend Veronica/It's time to celebrate Chanukah/I hope I get a harmonicah/Oh this lovely, lovely Chanukah/So drink your gin and tonicah/And smoke your marijuanikah/If you really, really wannakah/Have a happy, happy, happy, happy Chanukah/Happy Chanukah
