It was recently reported in The Daily Times that the Custis Historical Site on Virginias Eastern Shore was defaced with swastikas and hate epiphets and that local authorities have consulted with police in Virginia Beach to determine if it is gang-related activity.It may very well be just some idiotic juvenile vandals who do not realize the significance of that evil symbol-but it's better to be safe than sorry.While local attention has been focused on minority gangs like MS-13 and All 'bout Money,very little has been said about neo-nazis and law enforcement and citizens need to be aware that an area like the Eastern Shore is ripe pickings for these hate groups.If we put all our focus on black and Hispanic gangs,the white Supremacists will sneak right in our back door while we are not looking.The leaders of the Aryan gangs attract disillusioned,angry white youths and whip them into a frenzy and they specifically target those who are easy prey-kids from dysfunctional families with problems in school or with the law and they brainwash them into believing that everything wrong in their lives is because of non-white people.The difficulties in their lives are not anyones fault but the Jews,blacks or anyone else who is different from them.They rope them in by making them feel like they "belong" and then use them to propagate their grand agenda and encourage them to commit acts of violence,and alienate them from anyone who does not share their narrow views.Sounds like a cult,and it is.Some national Aryan groups even have militia-style camps where they train their young recruits for the impending "Holy war" & basically transform them into homegrown terrorists.They produce and distribute heavy metal music infused with their message and that,along with other ventures,is what funds their activities.As of yet,they do not have a strong presence on the Shore outside of prison,but we have to be proactive and be alert and take every incident like this vandalism seriously until we have ruled out an intentional act of hate.Most importantly,we have to educate ourselves and our children that all people are humans,regardless of color.

I don't know. I think they already have a well oiled machine here on the shore. There have been hard core racist here on the shore as long as I can remember. Watch Gangland on the History Channel. Good stuff. Scary stuff...
You may be right-I know there are alot of bigots here on the Shore but as far as actual organized hate groups,I just don't know.I would hope there isn't but with all the violent kids in the scholl systems,who knows?
