Now thats a spicy meatball!

I just read the craziest story on the internet....a 22 year NYPD veteran who was a member of the Joint (no pun intended) Terrorism Task Force has filed a lawsuit to get his job back after failing a routine drug test and get a load of this defense....he unknowingly ingested marijuana-laced meatballs in July 2005 and his wife has admitted that she intentionally loaded the meatballs with about 6 joints worth of the stuff in because she wanted her husband to retire before he was killed in the line of duty or had a heart attack from the stress of his job and she figured a failed drug test would do the trick. He was suspended without pay in November of 2005
Anthony Chiofalo and his wife,Catherine, have passed lie detector tests about how he ingested the narcotics and an administrative judge has recommended that Chiofalo be reinstated after he denied using drugs and demanded a hearing to settle the matter, but Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly rejected the recommendation and fired Chiofalo anyway.A police spokesperson commented that his excuse for the failed drug test was "not credible".
Mrs. Chiofalo was using marijuana to ease nausea caused by pain meds she was prescribed for back pain and her husband stated that he did not have any knowledge of where she obtained it.
Please dont think that a drug related theme is emerging in my blog, this story was just so off the wall I had to comment on it.In light of his tenure and otherwise spotless job performance,I feel that it was extremely unfair to dismiss Chiofalo from the force.Apparently his wife has changed her mind about him retiring considering that she came forward in his defense, and she really did a stupid thing, but if her husband wants to continue serving the citizens of NYC,he should be given the chance to redeem himself. If he is not reinstated, then the 22 years he put in were for nothing and he has no retirement,no benefits, zilch! Here I go,LOL,defending the police again-but I think considering all the truly crooked cops out there who get away with their deeds, this man deserves a second chance.
